I went to law school in my 30's at night. One of the people in my class was in his 60's. He told me about a conversation with a friend when he told him he always wanted to go to law school, and his friend asked him 'why don't you go?' He said to his friend, 'I'll be 70 when I graduate law school'. His friend replied, 'And how old will you be if you don't graduate law school?'.
As usual Keturah, your words resonate deeply. My intention for 2026 has been creativity, art in all forms. Whether in a museum, traveling for an art exhibition or watching style class and figuring out what works for *me*. It’s be a lesson in choice. I choose to be creative. I choose to do that through fashion. And for so long I told myself that I wasn’t creative. I was many things - a physician, a surgeon, a friend, a family member, funny, loyal, generous, a boss (or bossy 🤣) - but not creative. What I’ve learned over the last 6 months is that I get to be creative ! I get to be anything I want to be. And my style plays an important supporting role.

I spent 35 years at PwC as a partner and then started an interior design business when I retired…in many ways a 360 degree turn from what I had been doing..except for the “running the business” part which is the same no matter what you do. Last year I needed to take a break to look after my mother. She has passed now and I have more time again..and now I am asking myself what next? I think we are all capable of doing many different things…but often our environment limits us when we are young, especially in the creative fields. There’s a sense you have to be born creative. I don’t believe that anymore. One does have to get past the fear of the unknown when one starts something new…but once you get past that the sky is the limit. There are so many ways to “teach” yourself about anything these days there are very few limits on what you can achieve.

I’m curious…what made you decide you weren’t creative for so many years?
I always thought of creativity resulting in something tangible - a piece of art, pottery etc… Theres so much precision in my work.
